BACK TO TRAILS
Silver Creek Falls Updated: April 6, 5:19 am

The Silver Creek Falls trails are a network of incredibly beautiful trails that include marked paved trails on the North side of Hwy 214, and the Perimeter trail and many horse trails on the South side of Hwy 214. Horses are not allowed on the Perimeter trail, and bicycles are not allowed on dirt trails on the North side. There will hopefully soon be a singletrack trail added to the top of the Perimeter trail to connect to the Shelberg Falls trails. The two Forestry divisions are currently discussing the possibility.

Location:Silver Creek Falls State Park
Length:Depends on routes chosen
Type:Cross Country
Difficulty:Low technical diffuculty, moderately diffuclult climbing
Current Conditions:Muddy, lots of deadfall. New maps available!

Directions:  From Salem, drive East out of Salem on Hwy 22 to Hwy 214 and follow 214 into Silver Creek Falls State Park. Take the right turn into the park and be sure to get a map of the Perimeter trail from the freindly ranger in the booth after paying your $3 day permit fee. A reccomended route is to park at North Falls and ride underneath Hwy 214 and begin the climb up. The trail is very roller coaster in climbs and decents. Turn around after you finish the big climb full of switch-backs and ride back to your vehicle. There is an extensive network of trails here and it is reccomended to ride with someone who knows the trails well. Salem's local club, the Merry Crankster ride here often and they would be an excellent choice to show you the trails. (merrycranksters.org)
